HOLIDAY 2025 SHOP UPDATES
A PERSONAL UPDATE
I’ve gone back and forth on how and if I should share this, but it feels right to say it plainly: Something personal has been unfolding behind the scenes, and it will affect how the shop operates this holiday season.
LOOKING AHEAD TO DECEMBER
In mid-December, I’ll be undergoing a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy. It’s a big step and one I’ve come to after a year of tests, biopsies, and long stretches of waiting for answers. While I’m grateful that my recent results have come back negative, I’ve been identified as high risk for developing cancer in the future. Choosing surgery now is a preventative step that brings peace of mind and allows me to move forward with confidence.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR THE SHOP
Recovery will take several weeks before I regain full range of motion, which means I’ll need to step back from the workshop for much of the holiday season. The shop will remain open, but turnaround times will be slower while I focus on healing.
Because of this, all holiday orders must be placed by October 31st. We won’t be holding our usual Black Friday event this year, and will instead host a smaller sale in October. The holiday season is typically the busiest and most important time for a small business, so stepping away during this period is daunting in more ways than one. Placing orders early will help ensure your pieces are finished before my surgery and will make an impactful difference in supporting the shop through this time.
A TIMELY REMINDER
Sharing this now feels especially meaningful as October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It serves as a reminder of how vital prevention and early detection can be. If my story encourages even one person to make that appointment or schedule a screening, then it serves a purpose beyond the shop.
GRATITUDE AND MOVING FORWARD
It’s not easy to step away from the bench, but I’m deeply grateful for the chance to heal and for the continued support of this community. Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and for giving this small shop the space to move through change.
I’ll share more soon about the October sale, but for now, thank you for being here and for walking alongside me in this season.
