A martingale is a collar that provides increased control and often used for safety purposes, as the chain will slightly tighten if the dog pulls or tries to escape the collar, making it ideal for escape-prone dogs.
This adjustable martingales opens up at the buckle so you don’t have to slip it over your dog’s head, making it a great option for those whose heads are considerably larger than their necks.
We always seek to use only the highest quality materials. Our silver martingale chains are stainless steel and our brass martingale chains are solid brass.
Please follow our Martingale measuring instructions and contact us if you have any questions prior to ordering. Our martingale measuring instructions are different than those for our buckle collars and slip collars. For this style of collar, your pup's neck measurement obtained should be (at most) the smallest number stated in the collar dimensions. For example, if, according to the Martingale Measuring Instructions, your dog has a measured neck size 16 inches, you should order a 16-18" collar.
Please note that:
- 1" collars are only available for neck sizes 14" AND GREATER and will fit best on dogs greater than 35lbs.
- 5/8" (skinny) collars are only available for neck sizes 13" and GREATER.
Because we care about the small details, every collar also comes permanently inscribed with the shop name on the underside of the collar; so you don't always have to show the whole world where you got your collar from, but you'll always know you bought quality, artisanal goods.

For safety, we do not recommend full-time wear of a martingale collar, nor should one ever leave a martingale collar on a dog when they are not under active and direct human supervision, as serious harm may occur.
